The Value of Higher Education

What do you think that higher education can contribute into your life and make a huge difference? What are the value of higher education?

You may say it can make our life easier and more comfortable then ever in some ways such as it can help us to get a better job and make more money. We will be more noticed, recognized and  praised.  Indeed these are what we are agree and always thinking of after finish our degree. But let me add some points that you may not think of.

I recently read one story of a young mother who get divorced since she was 18 with a two years old son. This was a remarkable story of how important to get higher education. Because she was so young and has't got any degree in hand even high school diploma. She was having a hard time with her husband and soon the argument come to an end by separated. Being a young mother raising a family alone seems to be difficult, it was hard for her to find money and support her son. She got a financial issue that she couldn't find enough food for herself coz she just tried to feed her son. She became weak and weak till the point that her friends recognized. Her friend keep her in touch and help her to get into what they called Aid to Family with Department Children which make it possible for her to continue her study.

A few years later she got degree and looking back while she was eighteen with two years old child. It wouldn't be possible for her to get into college, would it? I don't think so. But because of her commitment, her vision about her future and her son's future she tried to make a difference. She said "I want him to have a good life, to have everything he want and education. And I couldn't provide these for him unless I got myself educated. So I keep thinking and thinking if I could get degree and make money then we will have a good life. Then I went to school and work really hard." Her vision had fulfill and she reach her goal. She was not only helping herself but her son, her friend and people around her. She made people think of her as a great person and follow her step. She became a consultant and motivate people to keep trying, face the problem and never give up.
